Conditional Logic

Getting started

Every question, page and panel has a Visible if rule you can build from a condition editor — no expression syntax required. The Logic tab collects every conditional rule across the whole survey in one place, so you don't have to hunt through individual questions to see how the flow is wired together.

Rules are built from a condition (an "if") and an action (a "then"). Conditions reference any earlier answer by name — {satisfaction} < 3, for example — and can be built with the guided condition picker or typed directly for advanced cases.

Display logic

Shows or hides a question, panel or page depending on an earlier answer — e.g. only ask "which country?" if the respondent selected "outside the UK".

Skip logic

Jumps a respondent straight to a specific question when a condition is met, bypassing anything irrelevant in between — e.g. skip the driving-licence questions entirely for anyone under 16.

Branching logic

The broader case: combine skip and display rules, or send a respondent straight to the completion page, based on their answers so far — useful for surveys with genuinely different paths for different audiences.

Follow-up questions by choice

For Checkboxes and Radio Button Group questions, you can nest a follow-up question directly under a specific choice — select it, and the follow-up appears immediately below. For example, choosing "Email" as a contact method can reveal a nested question asking for the email address, without touching the Logic tab at all.

Note

Use "Skip to question" or "Complete survey" trigger types for the biggest flow changes; use display logic for smaller show/hide adjustments to keep the survey feeling responsive rather than jumpy.
